Dynamic Foot Bone Movement Model

A kinematic model of the foot describing individual bone motion based on a limited set of degrees of freedom was developed at KU Leuven and validated using in vitro data. The goal of this project is to determine the joint axes in this kinematic model from 3D dynamic surface measurements of the foot. A good knowledge of the position and orientation of the talo-crural and metatarsophalangeal axes is important for many applications including the design and evaluation of insoles, ortheses and endoprostheses.
